Feng Shui Tips for the Year of the Water Tiger

2022 – the Year of the Water Tiger – is said to be the start of making bold actions. But what exactly should one expect in this seemingly ambitious year? Read ahead to find out more, and maybe pick up some fun Feng Shui tips and knowledge to bring in better fortune this year for yourself!
Why is it the ‘Year of the Tiger’?
The Chinese Zodiac traces its fabled origins to a race organized by the Jade Emperor (who in Chinese culture and myth is regarded as a prominent divine figure) for all the animals in the world to take part in. Twelve species showed up for this peculiar event, and as a reward from the Jade Emperor himself – he will name a year in the zodiac after each of them according to the placements that they will have in the race.
The twelve animals are Pig, Dog, Rooster, Monkey, Sheep, Horse, Snake, Dragon, Rabbit, Tiger, Ox, and Rat.
A fun side note: Cat was a no-show for this race as its friend, Rat, was too excited to participate in the race and as such, did not remember to wake the feline up!

Why is it the ‘Year of the Water Tiger’, and what do these elements mean?
There are five elements accompanying the Zodiac Animals, and they are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. These elements work cohesively in an interdependent relationship, and this principle also appears in the practice of Feng Shui.
For the Water element, it is often connected to sensitivity, creativity, and true to its physical state – it is open to change. Yet, it is a powerful force and can conquer even fire while navigating the right path.
In this year of the Water Tiger, it has been advised to be prepared for hasty situations. There might be emotions and tempers brought about in both professional and personal settings, but on the upside, it is also a year that could bear unexpectedly good news and possibly turn dreams into realities.
What is Feng Shui?
To put it simply, Feng Shui (风水, which literally translates to “wind-water”) is a philosophy and ancient Chinese spiritual practice of using energy forces to create harmony in our living environment through physical arrangements.
This practice is also prominent in the modern landscape of Singapore, with the Marina Bay Sands being one of the touted structures in the lion city by experts as a “hub of prosperity” based on geography and design. Learn more about this appraisal from by Yahoo >

How do I apply Feng Shui practices to my home?
Here’s a TL;DR based on a Lifestyle Asia article of what you should practice in your living quarters in pursuit of eliminating bad fortune and welcoming good luck in 2022:
To eliminate bad fortune, get rid of absolutely all clutters and mess. Do away with dead plants and damaged items, and clear your windows of any dust so that sunlight and positive energy can flow into your compound.
Water leaks are also unlucky, as well as exposed nails on your walls, slanted walls, and any exposed beams on the roof.
Welcome fortune into your home by incorporating bright colours and objects such as mirrors, crystals, and lights. Heighten the sensory of your place by introducing pleasant sounds generated by wind chimes and bells and be sure to include some living organisms like plants, fish, and other pets. The presence of plants introduces the Wood element into your domain – which symbolizes creativity and growth.
If you have the real estate for it, you may also install a small water fountain to bring the Water element and its characteristic of denoting emotion and inspiration into your life.
The doorway to your abode is especially important – this area should be free from restrictions and dirt, while emanating positive energy. And since we are in the year of the Water Tiger, pictures of water bodies in your home can honour the Water element.
Can I also bring forward good Feng Shui practices to my ride?
Definitely! We tend to spend a considerable amount of time in our car, and it is not a bad idea to introduce Feng Shui practices to potentially rid of any trace of bad luck.
Like what you would do for your own home, start by decluttering any rubbish and unnecessary items laying around in your vehicle. Ensure your car windows are clean to allow positive energy to flow into your car – you may even consider winding them down occasionally to allow fresh air in and any negative energy to flow outwards. Pleasant sounds and soothing music can also be introduced during your car rides for serenity while helping the driver’s clarity of mind.
